About This Countdown Timer

There is a version of the future that looks exactly like this. Blue, wet, and very quiet. Rain coming down in sheets, a city of needle towers rising out of the haze, the water below gone silver and flat. Nobody is out. The whole place seems to be holding its breath. I keep coming back to images like this when I am tired of real cities, the ones with their traffic and their signage and their endless small emergencies. This one has none of that. Just shapes, weather, and light. A single bridge lit low in the frame, a handful of windows still awake, one spire dissolving into cloud the taller it gets. I do not think you could live here. It is not a place, it is a mood you visit. Art does that sometimes, hands you a room in your head you can sit in when everything outside is too loud. Put this on a big screen at night, kill the lights, and let it rain for a while. And there would be no other sound. No traffic, no voices, just water landing on water and the far-off hum of something enormous moving somewhere below the street. Some evenings that is the only rest that actually works.
