Kremlin Winter Golden Domes Countdown Timer

Winter light in Moscow is not warm, but it is honest. It comes in low and hits things at an angle it never uses in summer, and for about an hour in the afternoon the Kremlin looks like it was lit by somebody with a very specific idea. The Grand Kremlin Palace, yellow facade, green roof, the flag on top barely moving, snow sitting on the ledges in thin white lines. Behind it the bell tower and the onion domes, gold against that deep flat blue that only shows up when it is genuinely cold. I shot this from the bridge with my gloves off for maybe ninety seconds before putting them back on in a hurry. Worth it. What I keep thinking about is how long that wall has stood there. Six centuries of the same red brick, rebuilt and repainted, watching governments come and go. Snow does not care about any of that. You can see the car park from up here, all those little rectangles in the snow, and the flags along the embankment standing stiff and colorful in the cold. It falls on the palace and the parking lot the same way.
