Saint Basil Winter Sky Countdown Timer

I saw this building on a biscuit tin long before I saw it in person, and I want to be clear that the biscuit tin did not lie. St. Basil's is exactly as strange as it looks. Eight towers, no two alike, every dome a different pattern, stripes and swirls and scales, red brick underneath it all, arranged by somebody who had clearly been told no once and decided to ignore it. The sky that day did half the work, all bruised grey cloud with a few bright gaps torn through it, and there was old snow on the ground, brown at the edges the way city snow always gets. I stood in the middle of Red Square with my hood up and turned in a slow circle. It is one of the few buildings I know that looks better in bad weather. A clean blue sky would flatten it. This light gives it weight. If you ever go, do not rush. Walk the whole perimeter. Find the door. The middle dome is the tallest, gold and green, and the ones around it look like they were designed by different people on purpose. Look up until your neck complains.
