About This Countdown Timer

Canada Place at night might be the most Vancouver thing there is. Those five white sails, lit up in shifting colors, leaning out over the harbour like a ship that decided to stay docked forever. I walked the seawall after dark and stopped where the reflections were best, the whole waterfront doubled in black water, every window and streetlight pulling a long bright line toward the shore. The Province building glowed behind it, all those little offices still awake, and the mountains sat quiet in the distance, just a dark ridge under the sky. There's a calm to this city that I don't get anywhere else. It's big enough to matter, but it never feels like it's trying to impress you. It just is. If you're visiting, come down here at night, skip the crowded viewpoints, find a quiet stretch of rail, and let the sails do their slow color-change thing. Cruise ships dock here in summer and the whole waterfront smells like salt and diesel and somebody's overpriced coffee, which is a combination I have grown weirdly fond of. The sails change color every few seconds. Bring someone you don't need to talk to. That's the good stuff.
