About This Countdown Timer

Some cities get a skyline. Vancouver got a skyline, a mountain range, and a stadium with a roof like a giant white cushion, which frankly feels unfair to everybody else. This is the view from the Cambie side on a clear cold morning, the kind where the snow on the North Shore looks close enough to touch and the light comes in low and yellow, catching glass on every tower. BC Place glows in the sun, Harbour Centre pokes up beside it, and the mountains just loom, blue and white and enormous, refusing to be background. I walked over the bridge for this shot and my fingers were numb by the end of it. Worth it. What I like most is that the city does not fight the landscape. It nests into it, glass and concrete tucked under all that rock. You can ski in the morning and sit on a patio by the water for dinner and nobody here finds that strange. That is the whole pitch. Cranes and container ships on the left, snow and rock on the right, and the whole city squeezed into the space between them. Come for the city, stay because of what is standing behind it.
